Halloween 2008

Finally after 30 long days of October, Halloween finally arrived. The kids were so excited to go out and get CANDY. At times I think that is all they think about, especially Mason. Maybe it has to do with my over protectiveness of no sugar in their early years. Major backfire.

Anyways, Mason dressed up as Anikin Skywalker and Madeline was Princess Leia. Both of them looked adorable. The State Fair Lady aka. Yaya, Papou and spooky Auntie Cindy witch all came to celebrate. After a quick dinner, we headed out and barely lasted an hour. After about 3 houses Madeline's bag was too heavy. The kids had fun going door to door with all the cul de sac kids. When they got home they both got to choose 2 pieces of candy for the night. Now it's mine!!!!

I love Halloween.

Ice Cream Truck

We can all relate to the excitement a child feels when they hear the tinkling music coming down the street. This usually happens of course right in the middle of dinner. A few nights ago, the kids and I were eating our super healthy "breakfast" for dinner when the soft notes of the ice cream truck music floated through the open windows. Just to be crazy.... we stopped eating and ran to get money from the piggie banks. We then proceeded to wait outside for nearly 15 minutes for him to come by. We were about to give up all hope, when slowly he turned the corner. Madeline started jumping up and down, waving and screaming. Both kids had a tough decision to make.... when it all came down to it. Otter Pops. Giant ones.

I love the way the ice cream truck can put a smile on anyone's face.

Those parents...

On Friday the kids and I met Joellen, Morgan and Adam up at the mall (our normal stomping grounds.) Since the start of the school year we have had to come up with new times to meet, so we met after school for dinner and play. The kids had so much fun.... running through the mall, hiding in the clothes racks, making faces at dinner and all the things that we said in our early adulthood, we'd NEVER let OUR kids do. Yes, we are officially those parents with the silly and loud kids. The ones that you found yourself saying, "can't they control those kids?" Only with our closest and most dearest friends do we tolerate this behavior. I know, I know. This is not good for the kids to allow them to laugh and play and have more fun than the old lady sitting next to them rolling her eyes. Oh well. I need it and so do they.

The time will come when things will change, but for now I just want them to be 5 and 3 and live life. Aren't we all supposed to do that? Live.

P.S. Joellen, please take this blog with a grain of salt and laughter. You are the best!

Halloween Cupcake Queen

Fun fall day

Today Madeline and I decided to start the neighborhood booing. We got some goodies together and then decorated Halloween colored cupcakes. We are just waiting for Mason to get home so we can go haunting. We love the fact that Fall is finally here and are enjoying the somewhat cooler weather. Um.. I think it is 95 degrees out today.
